What the Speech-Language Pathologist does:
Provides diagnostic and therapeutic speech and language services to students with communication disorders. Serves as a consultant to teachers and other staff regarding the development and implementation of speech and language services.
DUTIES:
1.1. Assists teachers in developing language curriculum and teaching strategies.
1.2. Monitors classroom language programs by direct participation, observation and/or conferences.
1.3. Serves as a resource for materials and methods.
1.4. Attends IEP meetings.
1.5. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members.
2.1. Provides informal speech/language evaluations.
2.2. Develops and implements an individualized therapeutic program (part of the IEP) for each student receiving speech/language services.
2.3. Provides individual/group/classroom speech/language therapy.
2.4. Provides services in a variety of on campus settings.
2.5. Provides consultative speech/language therapy.
2.6. Maintains files on each student seen for speech/language therapy.
2.7. Provides quarterly progress reports.
3.1. Performs other duties as assigned.
Credentials and Experience:
- Hold a valid state speech-language pathologist license, required
- Experience in special needs school environment, preferred
